What could this mean? Any exclusive content (WN on SABRE for example) would now be visible in the competing system? Is this .... channel consolidation?

Amadeus, Sabre in airline pact
Tuesday, March 07 2006 @ 03:01 PM GMT

Amadeus and Sabre Holdings are forming a partnership to provide their respective travel agents with uninterrupted access to airline inventory.

The agreement enables Sabre Travel Network and Amadeus to providetheir travel agents with the ability to complete bookings on an airline that might not participate in the their respective global distribution system (GDS).

The agreement is designed to ensure continued broad and seamless travel agency access to airline inventory and avoid disruptions that might otherwise develop. This will in turn allow travellers that rely on travel agents greater access to the range of available travel options.

It means if Air Transylvania is on the Sabre system but not on the Amadeus
system then Amadeus users will be able to see Air Transylvania. If
Southwest isn't on either system then it still won't be accessible to either
system.

David I can understand your frustration. However from my standpoint this
problem should be corrected by the list owner/moderator. AFAIK this is the
only list that I belong to that is set up this way. Not making excuses for
myself I plain forget because I don't have to do it elsewhere. I personally
will try to make a better effort.

I know it's not your fault. Like you, this is the ONLY list I belong to
that also does the duplicate mailings. I try to eliminate the extra address
but, to be honest, I'm not 100% successful in remembering.

I have started an airline discussion list on Yahoo but not too many people
have joined it. One advantage of it is that it is moderated - and, of
course, it goes out to only one e-mail address per message.

I tried to join one there but I think I was not approved. One of the
aviation groups anyway. I thought this was a moderated group.

This list (cuny airline list) is semi-moderated. I have a list called
airline discussion. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/airlinediscussion
for more to join. For some reason, Yahoo is very slow today - I haven't
been able to connect to it for over 4 hours now. I wonder if they are
attacked by hackers to cause a DOS (denial of service)? Had the same
problem with Google for a couple of hours earlier today.
