Does it matter where corporate HQ is located these days? Boeing's HQ is
located in Chicago, but it is still seen as a Seattle company. United
can move to the planet Mars, and unless they are planning to
significantly trim their ORD operations, no one is going to notice.
Also, almost all publicly-traded companies-- like Boeing and United--
are incorporated in Delaware, for business reasons.

Next week, United executives will meet with officials of the northern

lifornia city about a corporate headquarters relocation, the Chicago

bune reported Wednesday.

United has hired real estate advisory firm Staubach Co. to evaluate
loca=
tions that would offer, among other things, about 150,000 square feet
of=
office space. Other options for United include Denver or staying in
its=
current location in Elk Grove Village, Ill., near Chicago's O'Hare
Inte=
rnational Airport.

The airline, which has not made a profit in six years, emerged from
bank=
ruptcy in February.

Elk Groove and sent this up as a trail ballon to scare
the city council?

You're right. A company can locate anywhere in the
world. Executives simply push paper and have
accountants.
